Across the street from our first location in Classensgade and just around the corner from our current one in Østerbrogade lies Gustav’s Bistro, an on point eatery that - once having dined their - leaves nothing else to be desired.
Starting in 2011 Gustav Vilholm, who had previously been working at more high end michelin-starred establishments in the city centre of Copenhagen decided to start something on his own. He got tired of his friends not being able to afford eating at his prior restaurants more than once a year and thus wanted to branch out on his own in order to meet this - for him - essential match between work and leisure - and approach his game with something more local and accessible.
At Gustav's you can expect a seasonal French inspired menu with many Danish elements thrown in for surprises and good measure. We love the charcuterie and also the knack he has of finding really tasty vegetables. Wine also happens to be one of Gustav’s passions and this also happens to be something that we have in common. All of his wines are either organic or bio dynamic and there’s an impressive list of them to either drink at the restaurant or to bring home from the little store next to Gustav's. This nifty little place also sells oils, cheeses, sausages, coffee and chocolates - sourced from both Denmark and abroad. Definitely worth a visit and warmly recommended by us!
